Hello, friends!

As we close out the summer, we've got exciting news to share: CASA is growing! A new leadership role, two new positions, and even more support for children in foster care are on the horizon this fall.

But we're not growing just to grow. Every bit of this means more children having a caring advocate by their side. And nothing is more exciting than that.

Also, don't miss the story of how CASA Shelley is helping one young woman navigate the road to independence. Every young person deserves someone in their corner like her!

From all of us at Heart of Missouri CASA, thank you for partnering with us to make it all possible.

Big News!

We're thrilled to announce ChaRae Champion as our

new Chief Operating Officer!

ChaRae joined CASA two years ago as an Advocate Supervisor and quickly grew into our Older Youth Specialist, bringing deep foster care expertise every step of the way. Anyone who's worked with her knows why: she leads with high standards, shows up with remarkable consistency, and brings people together.

As CASA grows toward our new Headquarters and Clubhouse in early 2027, this new role lets ChaRae oversee our volunteer advocacy program and Clubhouse space — while our our CEO, Kelly Hill, focuses on the partnerships and funding that will help us reach every child who needs us. It's a direct investment in our goal of serving 100% of children who need a CASA volunteer in Boone and Callaway Counties by 2030.

Join us in congratulating ChaRae on this well-earned next chapter!

TWO New Positions

As we look toward opening our new Clubhouse and reach for our goal of serving 100% of children in foster care in Boone and Callaway Counties by 2030, we're investing in the people who will help us get there.

1. A dedicated Volunteer Recruiter will lead our strategy for growing the CASA volunteer corps — the advocates at the very heart of our mission.

2. A Clubhouse Manager will ensure our new space runs smoothly and welcomes every child and family who walks through its doors.

Together, these roles reflect a simple truth: reaching every child who needs us takes both more volunteers and the infrastructure to support them well. Know someone who might thrive in one of these roles? Please share the opportunity with them!

"You can do this"

This month, we're celebrating CASA volunteer Shelley for going above and beyond for her teen. When her teen needed school supplies, Shelley coordinated with Children's Division to gather a backpack and supplies, added donated items from a Kingdom City Christian Mission trip, and even had a water bottle engraved with her teen's name and birth flower. Since her teen turned 18 this summer and started at State Tech, Shelley has helped her navigate independent living — enrolling her in a budgeting course, supporting her mental health with medication reminders and therapy scheduling, connecting her with utility and food assistance, and helping her apply for college grants. She shows up consistently — texts, calls, visits, court hearings, FST meetings — and has become a vocal advocate for getting her teen the continued support she needs.

Shelley, thank you for showing up in every way that matters. You are the heart of what CASA is all about.
