CASA Mike advocates for a teenager with autism who currently resides in an independent living facility. Due to his autism, the young man is not especially verbal or emotional. For years, Mike has provided consistent advocacy for him and made sure he is set up for success to live independently. Recently, the young man had a birthday and since he enjoys Halloween, Mike dressed up and they were able to have a small party. Mike expressed that the young man showed emotion and that the excitement on his face was clear, which was a rare and special interaction between them.
Happy New Year! Hi *{{Informal Name}}*,
Although I imagine we are all ready to leave 2020 behind, I want to highlight some milestones that we hit this last year at Heart of Missouri CASA:
This is the most children served and the most volunteers we have ever had in a year in our agency's history. This is incredible, and we couldn't have done it without you.
We are looking forward to 2021 and are optimistic that it will be an even better year. I hope this year is better for you, too!
We have some big goals this year. Two of those goals are to recruit and train 60 new volunteers and increase the number of children with a CASA to 350.
With the number of children in foster care growing, our plan to reach these goals is crucial. Check out our website if you are interested in becoming a volunteer or if someone you know might be interested in joining our new volunteer training program!
Wishing you a joyous New Year!
Sincerely,
Kelly Hill Executive Director

"20 Under 40 honors a group of outstanding professionals under the age of 40 who excel in their industry, are company leaders, and are good community citizens. In other words, each 20 Under 40 class represents the best of the best in Columbia." We are thrilled to have these two wonderful people get recognized for their success and represent CASA! Change a Child's Story Approximately 250 children in foster care are waiting for a CASA volunteer. To reach more of these children, we continue to grow our capacity of staff and volunteers. To make this growth possible and sustainable, we have a goal to reach 50 Circle of Hope members this year.
We would love to have you join to help provide a consistent voice for a child in foster care. A recurring monthly gift of $25 a month is all that is required to be a Circle of Hope member. Why $25? Because $25 provides one hour of advocacy for a child. You can also qualify as a member if you opt to donate $300 a year or $75 a quarter. We can set up a special recurring schedule just for you!
