In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Central Missouri Community Action, in partnership with Home State Health, will offer a FREE professional development opportunity on October 18th! Light breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost to participants. We invite you and other members of your team to join us!
This unique training event, In Her Shoes, will increase participants’ understanding of the complex dynamics of intimate partner violence, and will offer exposure to the difficult and overwhelming barriers that commonly stand between victims and their choices for freedom and safety.
In Her Shoes is an interactive simulation that allows child and family serving professionals to step into the role of a victim/survivor, and to live out the associated trails first-hand. Participants will have the opportunity to experience, over a challenge-packed three hour period, the ups and downs battered individuals commonly encounter, and will gain experience in attempting to navigate helping systems, which may or may not be helpful.
Plan to engage your team with us on October 18th, 8:30am to 12:00pm. This event will be held at Memorial Baptist Church located at 1634 Paris Road in Columbia.
Group size will be limited to 60, so we will need to register soon! To register, contact Mariah at mariah@homcasa.org or 573.442.4670 ext 4. Mariah will be registering our group by 9/27/18.
We look forward to hearing from you!
